Kimberley Quest is a long standing company, specialising in Kimberley cruises on-board the award-winning vessel the 'Kimberley Quest II.

JOB SCOPE

Responsible for the overall control of the vessel under your command and for ensuring the safety, health and welfare of the personnel on board. The Master's decisions with regards to the aforementioned, shall be acted upon, respected and supported by all parties concerned with the vessel. Vessel duties are clearly defined in the Domestic Commercial Vessels Act. The Master will ensure that he follows the requirements of the "Act" at all times. The vessel master holds the responsibility of all OH & S compliance with all passengers and crew. This responsibility extends to contractors or any one on board the vessel, on any excursion, tender vessel, wharf etc.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Maintain and manage company assets to the highest standard
• Manage crew and co-ordinate duties as required
• Control all OH&S as per company requirements
• Delegate duties and requirements as practicable
• Co-ordinate the daily running of the vessel, including all mechanical aspects in conjunction with the Deckhands
• Process all on-board sales
• Administrative duties as required by the company [reporting systems, permits, etc]
• Liaise with management team and other crew and office staff at all times to ensure duties and activities are within the company's expectations and requirements
• Ensuring that the comfort and safety of all persons onboard are maintained
• Leading and directing of activities, crew and passengers welfare

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

• Current Master V
• Current MED2
• Sound knowledge of and experience working in the Kimberley
• Senior First Aid certificate
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Organisation and time management
• Knowledge of OH & S
• Police clearance

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

• Administrative experience

LOCATION:

• Broome
• Only applicants who will be in Broome long-term will be considered for this position

EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS:

This is a contract position rostered 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off. This may vary from time to time depending on the vessel itinerary.
